Annual Rounders Tournament Is A Resounding Success!

We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday 20 June 2024, our popular rounders event, sponsored by PwC Isle of Man, raised a total of £9500! Every contribution makes a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your generosity.

340 people in thirty-four teams participated with ‘Canada Life’ emerging as the 2024 Champion. Despite last minute team member changes, the team showed incredible spirit and perseverance, with fantastic extras from Dohle and a few other participants. The final match was thrilling, with ‘Canada Life’ edging out the reigning champions, One Hit Wonders, in a close game with a score of 30-24.

We also want to give a special shout-out to David Bosendorfer's son Daniel, who has been awarded this year's Champions Bat. Well done, Daniel!

Jane Howland, Finance Lead at The Children’s Centre, said: “This year’s Rounders Tournament was truly memorable, with all teams bringing a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the event, and we congratulate the Canada Life team on their win! We are incredibly grateful for the fundraising total reached this year as all monies directly contribute to our work with local children and families in need. Offering a wide-range of services, we help children struggling with behavioural, learning or emotional issues as a result of challenging life experiences. Thank you to PwC Isle of Man for their continued support of the Rounder’s Tournament and a special congratulations to Daniel Bosendorfer who was awarded ‘Champion’s Bat’!”

Paul Jones, Corporate Responsibility Lead at PwC Isle of Man, added: “A summer event full of community spirit, the Rounders Tournament brings people together from businesses and organisations across the island, all with the aim of generating important funds for The Children’s Centre while enjoying friendly sporting competition. We would like to congratulate the winning team and thank all involved in helping to make the event such a success! This was PwC Isle of Man’s seventh year as sponsor and demonstrates our continued commitment to making a positive difference in enhancing the lives of local people.”

Once again, congratulations to all the teams and individuals who took part. Your sportsmanship and teamwork are truly commendable.

Thank you from us all, and we look forward to seeing you next year!
