Based on the headland overlooking Douglas, the Community Farm is a special environment where children and young people can learn more about a range of rural activities in a safe, nurturing and educational setting.
Learning, developing, growing
The Community Farm has been developed to offer a welcoming and therapeutic countryside facility, allowing young people to grow and improve their social skills and develop their personal confidence and self-belief. And they can learn a range of specific practical skills as well.
This is particularly helpful for young people who are struggling in standard education and who need further opportunities to understand their own capabilities...to realise that they may be capable of more than they imagine or have been told in the past.
The Community Farm works with schools – primary and secondary – across the Island, working with them to develop programmes that complement the skills learnt in the classroom. We work with other community groups too, to ensure that the wider Island community gets the maximum benefit from everything we do at the Community Farm.
Open to all
We want the Farm to be used by as many of the Island's children, young people and families as possible. That's why we have regular Open Days, and are often seen at our stalls at a number of events across the Isle of Man, from the Royal Agricultural Show to Braddan Parish Day. All our 15 acres of land is being developed to add to the facilities the Farm can offer, as we complete our rural walkways and fun-filled facilities.
Did you know we have a Hobbit house on the Isle of Man. Come and vist The Community Farm to find out more
